On Saturday, October 18th, Relic studio will carry out an important restoration project at the Civic Museum of Villa Colloredo Mels in Recanati.
The intervention will focus on several handwritten documents of great historical and cultural value, including a touching letter written by the poet Giacomo Leopardi to his father Monaldo, dated 1833. In addition to Leopardi’s letter, the restoration will also involve the precious Golden Bull of Emperor Frederick II of Swabia — a parchment document with a gold seal dated 1229 — and a letter sent to Leopardi by the writer, mentor, and friend Pietro Giordani.
These are materials that time and environmental conditions have rendered extremely fragile, and which now require meticulous restoration work to ensure their long-term preservation and appreciation.

The restoration will be carried out as an “open site,” thanks to the support of ANCoS Macerata and under the supervision of the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency of the Marche region. This initiative offers the public a unique opportunity to witness the restoration process live, engage with the team of conservators, and gain deeper insight into the world of archival restoration and preservation.
The site will be open to visitors from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM — a unique occasion to take part in a special moment dedicated to the protection and promotion of our cultural heritage.
