On the occasion of the 15th August festivities, the Maldotti Library, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Guastalla, will host a conservation workshop open to the public, directed by Giovanni Pagani and Valeria Di Capizzi from Relic – Restauro Libri e Conservazione, of Recanati, who are engaged in conservation operations on volumes dating back to the 15th century.
During the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to observe and learn about paper restoration techniques, cleaning and securing volumes, and the conservation of historical bindings. The worksite will be open to the public from 2.30 to 5 p.m. and is the first of a series of meetings that will end on 29th September during the days dedicated to the historic Guastalla Fair, during which an exhibition of precious texts from the Library’s historical collection will be organised.
